Drama Prime Time Report – 12/03~12/06

This week started off with a weak Monday, as most of the networks lost viewers compared to last week. Looking at only the dramas, ‘Perfect Blue‘ (TBS) lost 0.2% and recorded 8.6%, while ‘PRICELESS‘ (Fuji TV) did well again with a rating of 17.2%, even though that meant a drop of 0.9% compared to its previous episode.

Fuji TV and their ‘drama Tuesday’ has completely lost its strength. ‘Osozaki no Himawari‘ and ‘Going My Home‘ both recorded new individual negative records with 7.8% (minus 0.8%) and 5.6% (minus 0.3%), respectively. Even TV Tokyo recorded better ratings than Fuji TV throughout the prime time. Meanwhile, ‘Single Mothers‘ (NHK) was doing rather okay with a rating of 7.5% (minus 0.1%).

On Wednesday, Fuji TV was able to rely on its long music festival ‘2012 FNS Kayou Matsuri‘ for great viewer ratings. The four-hour long show recorded a rating of 18.6%, which caused all other networks to experience a rather disappointing Wednesday prime time. Drama ‘Aibou season11‘ (TV Asahi) dropped below the 15% mark for the first time this season and recorded 14.0% (minus 1.7%). ‘Tokyo Zenryoku Shoujo‘ (NTV) lost even more viewers with a drop of 3.5% and a terrible rating of 5.4%.

Thursday’s programming made us remember that we are already approaching the end of this season. ‘Sousa Chizu no Onna‘ (TV Asahi) was the first drama to say goodbye and it did it with a two-hour special that recorded a decent rating of 10.2% (+0.4). Its season-average amounts to 10.09% [10.1%*].

Meanwhile, ‘Doctor X ~Gekai Daimon Michiko~‘ (TV Asahi) continues with its one-drama show as it widens the gap towards the second-best fall drama with another priceless performance this Thursday. Its seventh episode improved by 1.5% and allowed the drama to finally break through the 20% mark with a rating of 20.1%. Of course this meant no chance for recovery for the struggling medical drama ‘Resident ~ 5-nin no Kenshui‘ (TBS), which experienced another bad week with a rating of 5.6% (the same as last week). ‘Kekkon Shinai‘ (Fuji TV) improved a lot this week with an increase of 2.1% (rating: 12.7%).
