The Wiener Schnitzel...indimenticabile!!
Do you like this story?
According to Wikipedia, the Schnitzel is a traditional Austrian dish made with boneless meat thinned with a hammer, coated in bread crumbs and fried. It is very popular in Austrian and German cuisines. In Austria, the dish called Wiener Schnitzel(Viennese schnitzel), is traditionally garnished with a slice of lemon and either potato salad or potatoes with parsley and butter. Nowadays you can find it made with pork, although the original version is with veal.
It seems to be quite a mystery its origins.. Some say it appeared in Vienna in the 15th or 16th century, brought by the Polish and German troops that were fighting the Battle of Vienna. Another hypothesis says that it was introduced in 1857 by Field Marshal Radetzky, who spent much of his life in Milan (and we have also the Cotolleta alla Milanese style using bread crumbs and fried, but that one is with the bone).
Despite of its origins, the fact is that one MUST have a Wiener Schnitzel at least once in a lifetime (or once a week, it would be even better). In Vienna they still do it like in the old time, just like that.....
