Girls’ Generation to Release US Special Edition of “The Boys” in Japan
Girls’ Generation will be releasing the US special edition of “The Boys” in Japan. The album has thus far performed well on the Billboard World Chart, French music charts, and Spanish music charts. Fans in Japan will be able to purchase the album on March 28th.
2PM’s Chansung Says That Girls’ Generation Is the Most Popular Group in Europe
2PM’s Hwang Chansung said that Girls’ Generation is the most popular group in Europe. On February 29th, Joo Younghoon, Jo Younggu, Jeon Hyebin and Hwang Chansung appeared on MBC’s “Radio Star”. MC Yoon Jongshin asked Chansung, “You went to perform in Europe recently. How was the audience’s response towards 2PM?” Chansung replied, “It was surprising because the response was better than we expected.” When he was asked, “Then which group was most popular in Europe?”, Chansung replied, “Of course, it’s Girls’ Generation.”
Girls’ Generation Featured on Website of German TV Station “Arte”
A recent article on the website of German TV station “Arte” covered the growing popularity of Korean pop and featured Girls’ Generation. The article referred to Girls’ Generation, which manages to produce one chart-topping hit after another, as Korea’s most successful pop export, and mentioned that “Gee” has over 65 million views on YouTube. It seems that no matter where you look, the popularity of K-pop, led by Girls’ Generation, is growing.
NY1 Features Girls’ Generation and K-Pop in the United States
NY1, a 24-hour news channel, posted an article on K-Pop in the United States and featured S.M. Entertainment artists BoA, SHINee and Girls’ Generation. NY1 also asked some questions about their appearances on “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Live! Girls’ Generation Appointed As Ambassadors for Gangnam
Girls’ Generation has been appointed as ambassadors for Gangnam alongside other idols such as Rain, Jang Nara, and Super Junior. Gangnam is a district in the city of Seoul and is well known for its several shopping areas.
