I LOVE SKIP BEAT and Donghae is adorable
Do you like this story?
I've been keeping up with the live action Taiwanese drama "SKIP BEAT!" well... kind of... I've been trying. I've just watched the latest episode, episode 11. I've been loving most of it so far.
It's kind of hard not to like Donghae and Siwon, being an ELF... However, I'm still pretty pissed about the whole Korean actors acting in a Taiwanese drama thing. They have to dub their voices and everything. It's annoying thinking about it. If I don't think about it... then, I like them. How can I not like my Anchovy's Fishy??? (Yes, I'm Eunhyuk/Anchovy/Monkey-biased and a Eunhae shipper.... >.> so.. yeah...) Besides, Fishy is adorable trying to speak Chinese in the behind-the-scene portions!
And Ivy Chen is a really great actress. I haven't seen any of her other stuff, but I'm really liking her as Kyoko/Gong Xi. She's got the hyper-active-ness and she can be really cute as well as dress up as and portray a pretty good angel. Bianca is also a pretty good Qin. Not at all how I would have imagined a real life Qin, but she portrays her really well. I would have imagined someone a bit more prettier and... a bit more... endowed... Both actresses have really been growing on me as their respective characters though.
Most of the problems I've been having with the drama is stuff like clothing and hair style choices. I've been wanting to watch the anime again, because it's been a while since I've watched it with Bonnie, and I know that I will have SO much more to complain about and critique about it.
The first complaint I had about it was Kyoko/Gong Xi's hair. In the anime, her hair is colored orange/red. I'm not asking for Ivy to dye her hair red or orange, but she could have dye it something a bit funky. Or an auburn/maroon color even. Just not... the same old, brown/black hair color as every other Asian in the world...
OH! And one other thing that has been bothering me when I was watching... ep.... 8? 9? The one where Gong Xi as a chicken talks with Siwon's character about the script. That part where he was laughing?? It seemed really fake. Maybe he was trying to portray someone that doesn't laugh often, so it sounds fake because he doesn't know what a full-hearted laughter is? I really don't know if this part is just me trying to cover up for him, or if it's just... it sounded really fake. I know that both can be a possibility, because I've had that comment made to me before. I was laughing and someone asked me if I was just fake laughing, or if that was just the way I laughed. It was just the way I laughed! Is there a problem with it? Is there a problem if I'm not banging on the table and bent over in laughter? This also concerns me, because I don't know if I'm just covering up for him as an ELF, or if I truly believe that he was trying to portray a character like the past me.. The shy, quiet me. The one that had only a few friends. The one that was afraid to laugh because I rarely laughed in public, so that my laughter came out sounding fake. I don't even know.
I really like the guy playing Siwon's character's manager. He's kind of cute. Of course, my friends would tease me that I "of course" liked him because he wore glasses. Now that I think about it... I think that, so far, he's the only person in the whole drama that wears glasses! I kind of wonder if I knew that unconsciously... I'm just going to say that he's really cute and he's basically my favorite character in the whole thing and leave at that. I'm not going to dwell on this... He's probably 20 years older... >.>
Anyway... I both love and hate this and that about Skip Beat! the live action drama.
I know that if I ever catch wind about anyone wanting to make an American version of the drama... I WILL DEFINITELY AUDITION FOR THE ROLE OF KYOKO/GONG XI!!!
I really don't know if I have the skills, but I will learn. I'm practicing on my own and they aren't making an American version NOW, if ever. I have time to prepare. ^_^
Peace out Loves!!!
Good night!
