Lunar Eclipse took place in Korea for first time in 11 years

A total eclipse of the moon took place last night.

A total eclipse of the moon is a phenomenon which occurs once or twice a year when the sun, earth and the moon are in strict alignment. Actually, it had been over 11 years since the entire process of the eclipse had been visible in Korea since July 2000 and it was reported that the next full eclipse would be seen in 2018.

The lunar eclipse was expected to start at 8:31 p.m. and the moon would be totally blotted out into the shadow of the Earth from 11:05 p.m. to 11: 58 p.m., according to the Korea Astronomy & Space Science Institute (KASI) but unfortunately, Seoulites couldn't see it because of too much clouds in the sky by the time when it started.

At around 10:00 p.m., the moon slowly showed up also in Seoul..

The moon was gradually visible from around 11:50 p.m. and the partial eclipse ended at about 1:20 a.m. the next day. Finally, it became a full moon as usual at 2:30 a.m.
