23rd Annual peace Studies Conference: A Project of the CNY Peace Studies Consortium
Do you like this story?
Today the CNY Peace Studies Consortium held this event on 'my' campus - Le Moyne College.
It went from 9:00am and didn't end until about 4:50pm. And then there's going to be screening of the film, "Pray the Devil back to Hell" that's going to start at 6:30pm (so I should probably get moving soon).
It was an amazing experience. There was just an onslaught of information. I was a part of the Amnesty International Club when I was in High School, but for the last couple years I have been absolutely HORRENDOUS at keeping up-to-date with all the global events going on. I would hear or read a little something about Egypt or Iran or the Occupy Wall Street movement, but I haven't had the time to look into them and learn about the context surrounding each issue and the different sides of the issues. I've learned some today and I'll post a more in-depth criticism of the event later after I get home from the screening.
But I will leave you with this. If you have any interest in human rights, politics, intellectual debates, etc. then you should plan to come next year. I don't know when and where it'll be, but I assure you that you will be able to meet kind, relaxed, intelligent, opinionated people from all walks of life and you can hear each of their stories and it is an amazing experience. I hope that I will be able to attend next year.
