Fanano and the blueberry (mirtillo) tradition

According to Wikipedia, Fanano is a comune (municipality) of Modena, in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 50 km southwest of Bologna and about 50km from Modena.
Fanano borders the following municipalities: Cutigliano, Fiumalbo, Lizzano in Belvedere,Montese, San Marcello Pistoiese, Sestola.
The Blueberry from Modena's Apennines is the species Vaccinium myrtillus L., which grows in the wild.
The fruits are berries with a diameter of 6-8 mm, weighing 0.25 to 0.55 g, the outside is black-bluish, covered with bloom, the color of the flesh is red blue, and the taste is very characteristic, pleasant, sweet and sour and slightly astringent.
On August there is the Blueberry Festival, or Festa del Mirtillo, and the city eats and thinks blueberries for 2 days. You can find lots of products on the markets, all made with mirtillo, and the city restaurants also seem to offer special menus using mirtillo on the recepies.
Scientific research on the small fruit  showed significant antioxidant properties, due to the presence of polyphenols (anthocyanins to which they belong), as well as a potential preventive and antimutagenic activities of  tumor formation.
The mirtillo is healthy and is really good, so if you can find it, you must try to use it in some recepies as the one below:
