Gwangjang Market(광장시장)

What comes first if you think of Seoul? Skyscrapers? Fancy shopping malls? Busy business people? Or harsh Ajumas(아줌마)?
If you truly love traveling, you might want to feel ordinary lives of the locals.
Here you can experience the true Korea, which you don’t get to see in air conditioned department stores or large supermarkets.

Gwangjang market is one of the largest traditional markets in Korea and boasts a history of 100 years. It was established in 1905. The market specializes in silk and draperies.
You can purchase various items at inexpensive prices especially “Hanbok”, Korean traditional costume.


One thing that draws many people to this market is the abundance of special eateries.
As soon as you enter the market, you can smell mouth-watering flavors of fried snacks. Along the alley, the street stalls selling simple and cheap treats line up.



You can find various kinds of Jeon(전)-a pancake -like Korean dish- everywhere in the market.

such as Soondae(순대)-Korean sausage


Ddeokbokki(떡볶이), Odeng(오뎅), pigs feet(족발), Korean noodles and so on.
